Candy by Hoover always impresses customers with its wide range of practical and stylish home appliances, including its popular tumble dryers. Although these dryers work well, they can malfunction like any other contemporary electrical appliance. But here’s the catch.
Candy dryers display error codes on the screen, each indicating specific faults in the machines that you can identify and call professionals for repairs. Most Candy dryers come with in-built flash systems to signal the error code. You can find the error code by counting flash numbers in between pauses. To give an example, three flashes indicate error code E3.
Error Code | Symptom |
E3 | Water tank full |
E4 | Faulty program selector |
E5 | Defective front NTC sensor |
E6 | Damaged MCU (Main Control Unit) |
E7 | Limited or inadequate airflow |
E8 | Faulty thermal fuse |
E9 | Defective thermal cut-out |
E10 | Empty tumble dryer |
E14 | Damaged rear NTC |
E15 | Defective heater relay (condenser models) |
E15 | Open front thermal overload one cut-out (vented models) |
E21 | Memory parity crash |
E22 | Control board problem |
E3: The water tank gets full often due to the failed pump that causes water to collect at the dryer’s base. This can also be caused due to the jammed pump float or a damaged water tank sensor. Thus, you first need to examine the water chamber, remove any obstructions, and replace the pump if required. Replace the water tank sensor if faulty.
E4: The E4 error occurs due to the program selector knob stuck between two positions, if its switch is faulty, or the control board is malfunctioning. The first thing is to ensure that the control knob is accurately selected on a cycle. If the program selector is functioning properly, check the control board if it requires replacement.
E5: The error shows the failure of front NTC on the machine and you need to replace it. However, before replacing the NTC, you need to examine the NTC and eliminate any fluff covering from the sensor because if not done, the fluff can later make its way through the dryer and cover the sensors which can cause damage.
E6: The error indicates that the control module has failed and you need to either repair or replace it. You need to look for any burning marks on the control board which can point it if it’s faulty. However, before replacing or repairing, you need to ensure that the cables of control board are plugged in securely.
E7: The error shows there is poor airflow at the machine’s back which can cause overheating. You need to position the vent in a place where it is not covered and proper airflow can take place. If ventilation is good and the problem still exists, then the faulty sensor can be an issue, reporting incorrect temperature details to the control board.
E8: Although the code indicates that the thermal fuse needs to be replaced, it’s typically caused by an overheating in the dryer. Thus, you should check if the dryer has proper ventilation. Unclog the surplus fluff from the fluff filter, which can entre through to the condenser unit. Additionally, remove any fluff from the air vents inside the machine. Ensure that the fluff is not present near the as this can lead to fires and extra heat. In a tumble dryer, the thermal fuse is a one-shot device which protects the machine from overheating to the point that it becomes unsafe for the unit’s operation.
E9: The error shows that the trigger of thermal cut-out which means, it would need replacement. But first, make sure the dryer has efficient air flow and the machine is not placed against a wall blocking the vents. Inspect the condenser for obstructions and ensure the lint filter is regularly drained.
E10: The error indicates an empty drum while the cycle has started. You need to make sure that the dryer drum is sufficiently loaded and you have not just put one or two clothing items for drying. If there are enough clothes inside the drum and it shows this error, then it’s time to change the sensor as it’s feeding inaccurate data to the control board.
E14: Indicates faulty rear NTC so it would need replacement. The NTC can also be positioned on other parts of the machine, based on the tumble dryer’s model.
E15: The error shows a defective heater relay which needs to be replaced. First ensure proper plugging of the heating element into the control board. Check that there is no damage on the control board wires and they have a secure connection with the PCB. Mostly, you might also need to replace the printed circuit board. Remember to source the right board for your dryer as you cannot swap them like rest of the parts.
E21: The error show that there is a memory parity error which actually indicates an issue with the Random Access Memory (RAM) on the control board. Detach the machine from the power for resetting the control board and the RAM. Disconnect all of the cables from the control board followed by reconnecting them – look for any defective or loose wires. Try to avoid the cycle that led to the error. However, if it still shows the error, the board might need to replaced.
E22: The error code indicates a failed printed circuit board that requires repairing. But first, unplug the dryer for 5 – 10 minutes for clearing the error code as it might be a one-off incidence. However, if the error code still shows, you will be required to replace the control module which is a fairly simple job. Remember to purchase the right board for your dryer as they are not substitutable.
If you find any of the faults in your Candy tumble dryer out of the above-mentioned error codes, then first, you could try resetting the dryer by pressing the reset buttons on the control panel or behind the machine. You need to make sure that your dryer is cool before pressing reset and do not do this immediately after a cycle.
